ready for vacation.
Crit went pretty well! But man, it was loooong. I wanted to draw afterward, so I did. A silly, super quick self-portrait, in my old scribbly style. As many wonderful things as I have learned this semster, I just needed to cut loose and not worry about shadow edge and patient shading! So yes...messy and unfinished and odd looking, but happy :)

Drawn in Art History today, unfinished for now...I need to fix the leg proportions.

Midterm..
ugh. I am so done with this. I like it overall, but it feels a bit incomplete in some areas, and overdone in others.....and I really should have composed it better so my arm isn't getting cut off. Amanda says it looks like I've been punched. I feel a bit beaten up...I can't wait for the week to be over. Just gotta get through the monster day ahead.

Huntington Constable exhibit.

A really really great exhibit, and general place to go to if you like amazing landscapes and the artist's process, people watching, garden strolling and lovely afternoon tea! I've been horribly neglecting my big sketchbook lately..this will change now.

Model Session #6

felt kind of stiff today...I didn't really like my last one, so I'm not posting it :P I have to be more patient!

Drew this in Poli Sci today. The bird looks kind of funky...but I had an awesome time doing the hair. Tomorrow is my birthday, I shall be an oldie :P That is all.

I made this last semester, in my altered book/sketchbook. It was during my Psyche phase; done with violet and yellow guache. I feel like making some new stuff (aside from class projects) but I either don't have the time right now, or when I do..I don't know what to make anymore :P oh well, we shall see. I'm super excited about starting landscape painting though!

Sunday Model Session...5?


Yu Ji told me to be bold! Um, so I just drew. I did two others, I was drawing reeaaallly fast today, finishing most of them in the 25 minute sessions. I tried different pens too...yeah.

worked on this last night and this afternoon...not entirely pleased with it, but it's good enough just in case I don't have time to go back to it. The apple was giving me an incredibly hard time, and now that I look at it, everything looks kind of floaty. My palette was getting kind of muddled too...but I had fun painting it (for the most part) and that's what counts, right?

this was my drawing homework for this week. I wasn't entirely pleased with it, but Yu Ji said it was ok, and had good contrast. Now I have to start on my midterm--another self portrait, but including more of the body and a background...and hands.......and I don't know..something interesting!

I drew this on Monday before painting...I was sitting on the grass doodling my usual girls, but I had to stop and draw this napper..I just loved her pose! she was just so curled in on herself...but I only got this little sketch in before she woke up and left, ah well!

Yu Ji did a demo today before we start our full-figure drawings. Just my notes on anatomy and stuff...hopefully I'll remember everything when I start actually drawing! blaaarg.

My first in-class painting: completed (or as good as it's gonna get). Amanda thought it was an actual photograph at first..yay! (of course..she was across the room...) but I'm still pretty happy. We'll see how the crit goes on Wednesday..

Sunday Model Session #4?

Hmm..I think my first one turned out the best. I was abit overzealous with the shading on the second one..and I'm still too smudgy with pencil...oh well..more practice!!

We only had two sessions to work on it, and my drawing was going reallllly good the first session, but then I messed it up when I started shading, and I didn't finish...oh well, the model liked it :)

Drew this in poli sci today. That's really my only class I can realllly draw in (well, aside from life drawing..) all my other academic classes are strictly doodling :) Time to work...studio e faccio i miei competi!
