paintiiing. (unfinished)
Started this a few days ago, and worked on it some more today. Just a silly symbolism self-portrait! I have no clue what to do for the background though...that will be for another day. I can't wait for life painting to start!!

And here is a quick sketch of my doggie. She was sleeping so peacefully in my room late last night! I really need to do a painting of her sometime...

Baby Shower sketches.

Went to a good family friends shower the other day, the theme was "the very hungry caterpillar" it was really cute. I forgot how fun it is to work in contour. I had a weirdly good time drawing that chair...it was a really good model.

oh yeah..and this exhibit at LACMA is supposed to be really awesome!

en plein air.
A small landscape I did near my house yesterday, in true plein air. It was really difficult...the subtleties of the sandstone colors were really hard to catch, and everything turned out too brown. But yes, this is one of the landmarks of my neighborhood--Face Rock!

More Fresno Drawings!

These were from working with the Italian teachers. I tried to focus more on the space and background..but they look really messy to me..

landscape.
The view from my house. Only 3o minutes, limited pallete...viridian green, cad red, yellow ochre, burnt umber, white (i hated not having blue!) but yeah, it looks too washed out, not enough contrast...eh, I'll do more and get better!

Fresno--drawings.

These are all from the first day in Fresno. We did a few free-style drawings at the beginning so Samantha could see what level we were all at, then a ton of gestures, and a few line drawings. Our model was really great, and it was her first day too!

Memory Lane.

So I've been cleaning a lot this week. and uncovering a lot of old stuff from high school, drawings and such. Here's a sample of what I used to draw in class...I wasn't morbid or anything! :D

maybe?
self portrait I did earlier this week. I only used a few colors...light blue, blue grey, terra cotta, red violet, golden brown...and then some black towards the end. just wanted to capture the emotion of the moment i suppose.

Bones!

I did these in fresno, after class one night. Pen study for the first one...I was less concerned with proportions on the 2nd one, and then a quick study of the room and space in charcoal for the last one! It was fun drawing from an actual skeleton..but goodness, ribcages are hard!
