a different sort of art today!

Ah, the ever-evolving entity that is the art locker room! I brought my camera to school today to take pictures of my life drawings (which now look kind of crappy..haha) But I'm glad I had it with me when I saw the dead butterfly at the bus stop..it had such amazing wings! The other pics are some of the cool student lockers. I reeaaalllly want to make a stencil now!! Maybe I'll post my life drawings later....eh, must finish reading for class..

ahh..no time for drawing. But I guess you make time when you have to get something out of your system..even if it's just a quick charcoal sketch. Inspired by Kathe Kollwitz's style (kind of?) and my reading for class..

Ok, back to reading about rape, religion, economics, warfare and human brutality...

I feel kind of ill.

in the misty forest!?
Sadly, this is the only drawing I've done in the last 2 days..and I don't even know what it's supposed to be!!!!

But, ugh..I've been so busy.

1 test down, 2 to go...

1/2 of a (depressing and disturbing) book to read...

and my 3D project, of course!

draw draw draw.
ahhhh...I've been completely obsessed/posessed with this drawing since last night! so much for studying.......I'll post it when I finish, and if it turns out on film..but geez, it's taking forever to do!

(and yes, it is mythological...hahaha)

the week is over, oh joy!

Ugh, weird day. But by some accident, we ended up with two (gorgeous) models in class. I left my longer pose at school again....so I guess I will post that later! Um, well here is a watercolor I did last night to satiate my painting urge. It was inspired by Asherah/Asherat of the sea..."she who treads water" yeah. Also kind of based on the make-up workshop I went to at XMED? But I used a new kind of watercolors...intersting, but I'm still not used to them, and overblended as usual..

The other sketchy I did while watching Firefly with my roomie. Just wanted to draw some costumes I guess. I think I actaully want to add color to this one.....but I'm not quite sure how or what...............hmmm.

my homework!
Did this last weekend, but had to make a few changes before turning it in tomorrow (some of my lines were insensitive and confusing...) But anyway, it's supposed to be a self portrait using line to depict planes and shadows...eh, it looks all wrong. But Dom said the only reason we're drawing ourselves is that it's convenient, so hopefully the focus will not be on the subject, but the lines??
hm....I want to paint!

boredom!

The first one was inspired by the Palace of Minos and Aegean Art plus being bored in art history! Ack, our first test is next week...gotta start studying........Spent a looong time in the library since I couldn't go home...researched Schiele, Indian sculpture, angel motifs, and I even checked out a book for once! Then drew outside before self defense...this squirrel was quite scary..it kept going up to all the sleeping people like it was going to jump and attack them!! crazy critters..

Yes...more life drawing!

Our model was late, so the first one is of Domenic! When the model got there up we did a bunch of 30 second gestures to warm up--this guy has more tattoos and piercings than I could count! I wish I'd had more time to draw them all in....Then Dom did a demonstration on measuring and negative space, and we did a long pose, but I left mine at school...oh well.

Schiele inspired?? .....doesn't look like it! lol. Looks like I have my next library research assignment...

around campus..

I was a zombie today..something is definately wrong with me. But I got reaquainted with my favorite tree on campus, and sketched it before class. I have to try a few other views, it has such cool roots! Then I sketched in the library and helped Ana find books for her asian art history paper with my super nerdy library skills! I fell in love with this painting "Tear Drops on Lotus Leaf" by AbanindraNath Tagore (my doodle does not do it justice!) There was a bunch of art students outside sketching the fountain thing, so I sketched them...hehehe..

Boba doodles!

Today was fun! But ughgkfdg....I am so dead. I got to the point today where caffine no longer works...but anywaay, here are some of my doodles (or at least the ones I liked)! Nothing new really, you guys have seen most of them =) I really need to start using some color...they look so plain...ok, goodnight! I am so not looking forward to tomorrow...............

sketches from the laundromat!!

I simply love being able to entertain myself for hours on end with just some paper and stuff to draw!! These are from my adventures of doing laundry. wee. Sketch of the laundry place, runnaway cart, my roomie reading, and The Goddess of Laundering!!!!

birth of venus!
Started this one yesterday...had a strange urge to draw something with bright red hair. Finished it up today and realized she is totally Venus emerging from some scallops. hehe! Oh well, that's what she looks like to me, at least. The shells were originally going to be stylized Mesopotamian wings, lol...

Mechanical Medusa?
Originally, she was just going to be a plain ol' pissed off looking Medusa, but then I went crazy with the hair! aah...all of my freehand drawings are so mechanical looking lately!! what gives? Oye, gotta get more art supplies this weekend...and collect wood for 3D...

Painted Gestures: of a lovely english major/volunteer model!

Our model didn't show, but luckily we had a stand-in! Sigh...but no skill pill today..I had to work for it. I couldn't get used to drawing a model with clothes..lol. I wasn't sure whether to ignore them, or take extra time to paint them in, and they just kept getting in the way! arg. But after my conversation with Domenic, I was simply elated for the rest of the day!! =)

Painted Gestures: even pancakes have a gesture!

ahhh...sorry to post so many of these dang things, but I am very pleased with how they came out! (and they were so fun to do, aside from all the problems I had with my crappy paint) We did the usual 2/1 min, 30/15 sec, plus a few 10 minute poses at the end. Domenic said the last one was very nice!!!!!!!!!! I'm craving avocado...I think I'll go make something before I have to rush off to self defense. .

icky mondays!

So yeah. Pretty much everyone was half-asleep in class today. As well as out of class. hehehe...I love drawing sleeping people! But my subject woke up and left before I could start shading :( I got tired of sitting outside with no one to draw, so I went to the library to look at random books (which has earned me official nerd status...) and I found this one book titled, The Scallop: studies of a shell and it's influences on humankind. LOL. but it was pretty cool...like how scallop images were used in ancient greek art, and then in the Renaissance (birth of venus!) It was cool to draw from, and it made my long ass break go by pretty fast!

Sphinx.
This was inspired by art history, my obsession with greek myths, and having lots of reading to do!! Ugh, I don't want to go to school tomorrow (i hate mondays) I just want to curl up and read all day...
