duomo monster!

The scrapbook from hellllll is going to take control of my week. So I will post my progress instead of drawings!

This is the unfinished layout for my Duomo exterior page. I loooove montages. I need to fix the bottom right corner to make it flow more, but I like it so far...oh, and pardon the shiny spot..it's just glare!

haunted?

haha, done while listening to Blind Divine, if that explains anything. Reminds me of some old high school drawings...I guess I had a thing for great abysses in the heart and whatnot. And organs in jars. Yes, I was an odd kid...

painty
So last week, my mom comes in my room, asking if I want a piece of cardboard. I said no. She then went on saying how it is such a lovely piece of cardboard, and it's suuch a shame for it to go to waste...It has been sitting in my room since.

But today, I decided to be creative, and make use of all the time my messed up sleep schedule has given me!

Inspired by Promethea, and unfinished....I plan on fixing up the painting (ugh, i hate acrylics...) and maybe collaging some stuff on too! If all goes well, it shall be my sister's house-warming present...if not, it'll just be a painted piece of cardboard...

musical drawings

....drawn to Emilie Simon, "Graine D'etoiles" and Ugly Casanova, "Ice on the Sheets" (left)!

Sleep to dream

didn't draw too much today...just a few doodles with a sharpie...and here is one!

Oh, I do love drawing fairy tale themed stuff! :D

myth
This is my modern-day interpretation of Medusa and Perseus! (Please excuse my funky proportions and perspective!) This is how I picture them in high school...haha, yes I am weird. But I love me my Greek myths. I'm actaully pleased with how my guy came out..he does not look too deformed :)

Take Flight!

This is a sketchy I did the other day. I'd been looking through my old sketchbooks from highschool (how depressing, yet fun!) and I wanted to do something kind of in my old style...but hopefully with some improvements :)

Lovely adventures at the new/old Getty Villa today!

It was quite beautiful...we spent most of the time just looking at all the neat architecture and landscaping..and like, 2 minutes with the art (heh...) I'll have to go back soemtime soon! (oh yeah, the food is really yummy too..)

Watercolor inspired by the movie Mirrormask!

It was fun to do, but everything eventually started to muddle together, and my flying books are really pathetic..haha.

It is such a good inspirational movie though...I spent the whole time sketching stuff!

This is my doggy, Maya. We went on a nice little trip to the beach today, where my grandparents live. 'Twas fun...but unfortunately, I am becoming more and more introverted as the days go on. I was unusually quiet even around my family...ugh.

Well, anyway..these are some sketches I did of her, and I must say, she is a terrible model! As soon as I start to draw she starts scratching or chasing flies or something...haha.

Selkie or Siren?

I haven't decided...I was just fooling around with my watercolors (and not on watercolor paper...oops!)

hmm..I think I was going more towards siren while painting, but now that I look at it, she looks pretty bummed..like her skin has just been stolen. Selkie it is!

feeling a bit hermity lately.....

Animal Superheros !

I couldn't decide on one...so I did a few sketches.

and umm..they can all fly....

and I just really like drawing fluffy clouds :)

Metamorphosis

After doing nothing for most of the day, I had strange urges to experiment... The first one I set a time limit of 30 minutes so I could use it for my challenge. And nothing was really working out how I had imagined it, and I was running short on time..my heart was racing, it was awesome!

the next one was a bit more controlled. A semi-self-portrait?
The last one is one of those vague concepts you have no idea how to put on paper...

eh, I guess it turned out Ok...I had to rush to get all my crap off the table so we could have dinner. I wish I'd spent more time on the butterfly..cause I can barely tell it is a butterfly...and I made it....haha.

So, the moral of the story is...planning plus spontaneity is good. And crayons are not just for little kids. And scented ink makes art more smelly (in a good way)

I need to get some more ink, dammit!! :)

ARRRGH...here be my pirate post. 'Tis Salty Sam and her mangy mutt Maya! hehe...i like late night art challenges....I, however, do not like staying up late..haha :P

I started a "visual" journal...just now. I guess it's like a sketchbook, but more collage and cool stuff like that (that I usually avoid) This is my first page! yay...pretty simple, but it was fun :)

OK! Happy B-day to many people today..My grandma, Aunt in Florida, and friend from high school Sarah!

this was in the restaurant we went to for my Gran's b-day...really surreal decor. The sky painted on the ceiling was amazing...

The small funky drawing is one I did collaboratively with my cousin...it is of "logan's bird barf and etc"...hahaa..it was really fun to do! (sorry the quality suck...twas a photo in the dark, in the car)

oh, I do love blind contour!

I finally finished sorting and filing my bottle caps...I should have counted them, but that would take foreeeveeeer.

I am totally dead...sleep sounds good!

Another doodle I did in Italy...

Testement to the fact that I hate drawing hands. With a passion. haha, I guess that's what I need to work on...

Today was my first day out of the house on my own free will!
..and now I cannot stop coughing...bleh.

I have to finish sorting all my millions of bottle caps, and then maybe I'll post some more blind contours!

Another sort-of waste of a beautiful summer day! At Fabien's promting, I scanned in some of my doodles from Italy. I shall post one tonight in lieu of all the drawings I have not done today...
This was from the first night of our sketching group! 'Tis a strange juxeposition of my "domo arigato mr. gelato" stand, and a blind contour of Pam's foot!

I had big plans to do lots of art today!

...But I only got this wee watercolor in before my mom kidnapped me for the entire day.

Oh well, at least I got cute jeans!

So yes, this was intended for my grandma, since I never got around to sending out postcards in Italy (and a hand painted one is much cooler anyway) but I'm not too satisfied with it...so I shall do another tomorrow!

didn't draw much today...felt like crap-ola. Just drank a lot of tea, watched Rocko's Modern Life (the one with the old folks cruise and the bermuda triangle!), and lamented about being stuck at home, sick, alone, and bored out of my mind, after two weeks of being out and about in a beautiful timeless city surrounded by people pretty much 24-7. hah! This bloggy-ma-do is starting to take a very depressing tone! Hopefully it'll lighten up..

On a side note, I discovered how cool it is to sleep to music today! woo!

and instead of a drawing, I'll post an Italy picture! Ah, the River Arno......le sigh.

Ok, "later" totally did not happen. I couldn't even get through Roman Holiday, and I was too dead to even have a conversation, let alone a serious one.

But here's the other ink drawing i did yesterday..not too great, but the pattern on the dress is my favorite. She needs a story.

...and I need to get some fresh air and get rid of this damn cough.

Another lazy day today (aside from waking up at 6...)
Spent sorting through pictures, watching old movies on TV (Gidget, and Sabrina!), and fooling around with watercolors and ink.

I wanted to do something kind of related to my blog name I guess. My watercolor is so-so, but the ink was fun! yay for the straw effect!

ok, off to watch another old movie while I'm on a roll. Mayhap I'll post the other ink drawing I did today later on....

yum!
Ok, this isn't exactly art, but it was a delicious dinner, and it's my blog thing, so I can post whatever, right? :D

Happy 4th.
Self portrait (?) in oil pastel. I've lost my light and colorful effect lately...it's been especially dark and dense...whoops. Well, I'm just proud of myself for doing some art today! Hopefully this bloggy-thinger-ma-gig will inspire me to be more productive :)

first post! (hopefully). I made one a few minutes ago, but I either did something wrong, or perhaps I am dreaming up this entire blog thing. hmm..anyway, hopefully I'll be posting some neat art sometime soon! good night!
