Landscapes (productive again!)
I hate those positive feedback loops where I feel unproductive and depressed, so I don't feel like painting, and thus end up feeling more unproductive and depressed..and on and on. But no more! Did this landscapey on gessoed wood this afternoon, plus a quicky with my leftover paint. I feel pretty rusty after not picking up my brush in two weeks, but man I missed it..

The Getty Villa.



Went to the Getty Villa today with my family. Wow, two years since it had reopened. Hopefully I'll get to go again before I leave...the gardens are just so beautiful, I end up spending most of my time there instead of checking out all those amphoras and massive Herculaneums! But I did a few drawings, of course..

I was too hyper to sit down and read this evening (even though I have several really cool books set in Italy through all kinds of time periods to immerse myself in) so I ended up drawing. I look kind of like an alien. but ah well. The lighting in my room is crap, and I finished it up after having a bit of wine with dinner...hmm!

Portraits.


I had a lovely week in Indiana, visiting my sister! We organized, cooked maahvelous things, and I was able to work on my portraiture. The first is a quick one of Jeana as she relaxed (limited pallete--alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow). The rest are of some of her friends that were kind enough to sit for me! These all range from about an hour, maybe two..it was tough working in limited time, but it was great practice! Maybe I'll get my parents to sit for me next...
