boredom=productiveness :) weee...it's good to be back at school. So this is what I drew in Political Science today.

I think I have a good chance at getting into Intermediate Life Drawing. I showed the professor my portfolio after class, and he seemed impressed, but told me I would have to be patient in his class (damn, he's intimidating!) But I think it's because my life drawing style is very sketchy/scratchy/loose...and he seems to stress a more careful structural approach. I hope I do get in...his student's work is always amazing--and I already have a friend in the class :P

painting!
so here it is! This is my first gift painting I've done in a long while. Done in acrylics (my arch nemesis!) but I think it turned out well...and it has a lot of meaning :)

entwined.
I drew her face on Saturday while watching Edward Scissorhands heh, then the other stuff kept coming afterwards...it's the sort of thing that's fun to draw during class or on the shuttle, just lines and shades and swirls...I don't have to think too much, it just happens. I might add more as the week goes on..or maybe I'll start another...All I know is I have to get over this fricking cold soon--it's annoying the hell out of me..........

strings.
Saw Pan's Labyrinth yesterday...I like it, but goodness! it was a bit scary. Anyway, this is what I started drawing last night, and finished this morning. I don't usually draw much when it comes to settings, but man, this chair/bench thing was fun to draw! Maybe the tarot card reader was right and I will go into interior or furniture design...hehe.

wings.

So, I drew the first one a while ago (along with all the other pastel ones..) I just never posted it. So here it is! The second one I drew today. Because Sphinxes are just pretty awesome, and I wanted to draw a different style of wings. Anyway--I haven't been posting much lately cause I had been working on a painting which I may post later on! until next time..

Pieces.
Done with black and gray copic marker. Life is such a puzzle. And I've never been good at putting pieces together...

holy.
I started an icon...yay gold pen! My colors aren't dreary enough..and I do really need some gold paint before my pen dies. I need to fill in the background with some crazy gold design stuff!
and then, some ink stuff. The figure is so-so, but I had fun using a leaf to make the wings! Maybe I'll work on it some more later...

At the Getty..
omg...what a gorgeous day!!
Sketches from the Icons of Sinai exhibit...I have a major urge to go buy some gold paint and make a lovely luminescent icon painting of...something!

Sketches from the Guercino exhibit..I LOVE him. His ink washes are SO good (my crappy colored pencil and ink sketches do him no justice...)

More Guercino...I'm very pleased at how Atalanta turned out on the top!
...and finally, my own experimentation with ink wash stuff, I think she's a Persephone...

dream is destiny.
I'm not sure if I'm done with this one yet. Part of me wants to fill in the entire background with crazy clouds and swirls...but the other part likes the simplicity. hmph! Anyway, this one was partially inspired by my random childhood drawings I discovered the other day. I drew a lot of angels...along with many other strange things...and I went back to pen because of my high school drawings (my medium of choice! woo..) Hopefully I'll have a lot more sketches from the Getty :)

a feather cloak and tears of gold.
I'm taking a brief break from pastels..going back to good ol' graphite (and pretty gold pen!) The imagery comes from the Norse goddess Freyja. I was told last year that she is my goddess..and I think she's neat! :)

In Blue.
Another semi-self-portraity pastel piece! I did this one a few days ago, along with the others and touched it up a bit yesterday. I wasn't going to post it, cause it looks so depressing (and the hand oober sucks) but I haven't drawn anything else to post, and I like the colors! Time to go draw something less sad I guess..

flames.
Another experiment with color--something to keep me busy today. Fire is super fun to do with pastel!! Maybe I'll do some landscpes before school starts...my dad told me about some really great views from his mountain bike trails...hmm..we shall see.

memories.
I'm in one of those moods where I could either sit and stare at the wall all day...or do something creative. yay creativeness! I'm really into pastels right now, I love scratching through the layers of colors, smudging waves and flames, and rendering memories.

secrets.
I'm back from Indiana! Didn't draw too much. This was done the day after a very insteresting night...just experimenting with color and stuff. Maybe I'll post my other drawings later..maybe not..they aren't too great, haha.
